I am Carly the Chubby Chick and I Approved this Message.

It is going to be a very exciting week. New President? Nahhhh, it is something much bigger! Chubby Hubby and I are kicking off the Couch to 5K Training Program. Our schedule for running is Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Chub Hub is taking the the morning shift and I will take the late afternoon. It is not the ideal time for me, but if it gets both of us out the door I will do it.

This is my week ahead:
Monday-C25K
Tuesday-2-4 Mile lunch walk
Wednesday-C25K
Thursday-2-4 Mile lunch walk
Friday-video mania
Saturday-C25K
Sunday-Video or walk outdoors

On a completely unrelated note, I had a huge eye opening experience. I was balancing my checkbook today and kept thinking "where the f*** is all my money going?"At first I thought someone stole my identity because my balance could not be correct. I admit I am super anal about reconciling my account but not real good about entering the transactions as they happen. As I started going through the receipts, I began to see the light. My account is being drained by caloric entertainment. My morning coffee habit, lunches out with my co-workers, and my lack of drive to cook dinner have taken a huge chunk of my change lately.

While my money is disappearing, my waistline is growing (not losing very fast). Today was my first time truly realizing that my lifestyle of convenience is causing me to stay fat as well as having less money in the bank. This.Needs.To.Stop. This has got to be the first habit to change. My new goal this week is to curb the spending in food and food related items. I bringing my coffee and packing my lunch. This will force me to be a little better in my planning and make me do my grocery shopping on a regular basis.

Happy first weekend of November. I am off to blow the stink off myself and go for a walk. It is too beautiful to stay indoors today!

Oy, I hear you on money going towards food. It's CRAZY. I'm the same way. *sigh*

Amazing what our check books tell us. Good for you on planning and packing your lunch. You WILL see a difference not only in the bank but on your waist.

Good news on you and the Chub Hub getting going. You'll be crossing the finish line at a race together very soon.

Oh so excited for you. I wish my hubby would run with me... or run. LOL. I think that those two things are completely on the same level. I think that our fitness level is directly affected by the food and beverages we consume (right now is my first FULL Mt. Dew in like 2 months but I had a crapy run so I needed a treat). If we eat out, or drink out (coffee or alcohol) we see it affect the rest of our life, check book, time to go out instead of cook or buy coffee, etc. You are doing great but not only acknowledging it but facing it head on. One day at a time!

Great job!

Tina

Good luck with the reduced spending. I have a hard time watching what I spend and what I eat at the same time. Takes too much self control... I need to get my act together soon though or I'll have gained my "holiday gain" before the holidays!

I hear ya on the reduced spending. D and I have to measure all of our portions just so we can have left-overs for lunch the next day.

Now if we could stop buying beer, we'd be set.

Good luck on C25K!

Best wishes as you start couch to 5K!!

I hear you on money going to food going to the waistline. It gives extra incentive to be diligent though

Bravo to you and hubby on starting your Couch to 5k plan, and on your new fiscal (and dietary) discipline. You will have tremendous success with your new plan. Good luck and you go girl!

Good for you and hubby! MY husband said he was going to start C25K, inspired by watching me at my first race...but he has yet to start.

Those little food expenses add up I know. On the other hand...the sticker shock at the grocery store is not much better unfortunately! Grocery prices are unbelieveable!

Go for it! It really helps to have the DH on board with the plan. AND your epiphany about the correlation between the spending and the scale results is very timely. Sounds like you're on track for some amazing results. I did the C25K and ran my first 5K today!

Crazy isn't it? That's was an eye opener for me when I was a smoker. All of those 3-5 dollar transactions and no money to show. McDonalds breakfasts too. I was actually excited when they began taking debit and credit cards so I wouldn't have to run and get cash every morning. Now, I can barely stomach it in a pinch!.

I'm so excited for you to start the C25K. That brings back fun memories!

Yeah, for me it's the little things that add up. But groceries have gotten so expensive it's frustrating...Good luck with the training program!

Woohoo on the C25K!!

I'm with ya on the money going toward food. I've been bringing my lunch for a while, but I have a bad habit of not wanting to cook dinner.

I agree, the little things add up quick.

Good Luck on C25K !

Yay for the Couch to 5k program. Sounds like a fun run! ;-) Oh and I am also with you on the habit change. I'm trying to do the same!!

Great idea to bring your coffee and pack your lunch. I bring a lunch pretty much every day, and (up until a few months ago) we still had a $160 grocery budget for the 2 of us! (now we budget $200, but I rarely spend that much). Good eye!!
