Happy New Year!

Welcome 2009! I fall into the group of people that feels that January 1st brings about a clean slate. I make resolutions, I state my goals and wait for the clock to strike midnight. Poof! New Start. While I know that there is no magic about the date that truly starts time over or wipes away the sins of the past year, it is a good time for me to re-evaluate my goals. My birthday is December 20th, the holidays come, and then the new year. For me its is a perfect time for a fresh start.

As I mentioned in a previous post, my sole resolution is to become a runner again. I want to do a "do over" from my 2008 goals. I have lived and learned from my mistakes of the past year. My racing wish list should keep me on my toes. The beauty of my wish list is that my goals are attainable, yet flexible if the timing is not right. Next January I will be writing about how I achieved my goal.

This January, I have two mini goals I want to accomplish. First, Sarge and I are going to do the UltraSimple Diet together. I appears to be pretty painless and a good way to detox. I have been wanting to do a detox for quite sometime to see if it helps with all that ails me. The weight loss would be an added bonus, but I would love to see if there some benefit that would help with getting my allergies under control. Has anyone done this? If so, I would love to hear what you have to say.

The next thing I am adding is the 30 Shred by Jillian Michaels. I have heard this workout is a bitch but gets results. I chose this DVD because the workouts are 20 minutes and that is about all I can tolerate as far as DVDs go. I haven't watched this video yet, but Kristen (brother's lover) came over moving very very slowly after doing the beginner workout. Jillian Michaels is a she devil on the Biggest Loser, I can only imagine what she has you do in her own workout. I am looking forward to the challenge and hoping to lose my bat wings that seemed to form over night.

2008 was not a bad year even though I had some road blocks. I have learned a lot and I hope to have an even better 2009. My friends in Blogland, you have been a constant source of information and inspiration. Thanks for the comments and keeping me entertained. I am looking forward to reading about everyone's big adventures for 2009.
Happy New Year!

Wal-mart... that is about all I have in my small town, other wise I will drive into Lexinton and find it. I would love to ad her to my running routine and see what happens for me.

Happy new year, Carly.

The slow and steady approach worked like a charm for me. It got me started with running AND kept me running injury/burnout free.

The secret to long term success is not just starting running, but being able to CONTINUE running. I wish you all the best in 2009!!

Happy New Year to you as well! Good look with the detox diet - please let us know how you like the results.

I have Jillian's Shred DVD. It's tough, but in a fun kinda way. I highly recommend watching it first. She gives only a quick second between activities (at one point, it seems she's rushing her girls to get up and get it moving!), but she gives great cues, so it's pretty easy to follow. Level 1 left me very sore the first two times I did it. Sad to say I haven't graduated to level 2 - yet.

Happy New Year! I have done the Ultra Metabolism plan, but not the Ultra Simple one, and I liked it. I think I'll go back and dig that book out again, so thanks for the reminder!

As for the 30 Day Shred, I love that workout! I was on the floor panting and groaning by the end, and certainly hurt the next day. She kicks some serious ass.

Happy New Year! Take each of you goals one by one and you will accomplish them all.

Oooh, I'm glad that Melissa wrote about the Wii game. I've been wondering about that one too.

I need a good detox diet for about a week or so. Let us know how it goes (I suck at dieting...but the last two weeks have kicked and added to my ass like there's no tomorrow...)

I feel like the slate is clean this year, as well.

Good luck on the goals! I also have the 30 day shred. It's tough, but it's a good one.

LOVE the post label.

I agree with the clean slate idea. Not that I want to bury the old year, but each new one is a chance to make changes and do different and possibly better things.

Happy New Year!

Cute post label! A clean slate is an excellent way to start the year. If you also want a hardcore workout video, my friend has the PX90 videos and they are CRAZY. Let me know how the detox goes. I am not interested in drinking lemon water for 30 days but if it has actual food, I wouldn't mind giving it a try just to see how I feel. Good luck!
