I've Got Balls...

....OK, just one really big one.

I am going to be that person that my co-workers point and laugh at. I replaced my chair with a stability ball. Sarge also brought her into the office. Now we are having a race to see who falls off their ball first. I am putting the bet on myself as I have already tried to do "tricks" on mine (look! no hands, no feet). I just hope it doesn't burst on me.

I am trying to improve my posture and strengthen my core muscles. I believe that most of my injury issues have been caused by lack of core strength. I know replacing a chair with a ball is not a new idea, many people have done this and had success. In fact, at my son's elementary school the 5th graders use them rather than traditional chairs. This is however new territory for me. Tomorrow, I will post a review of my first full day on my new "chair". Wish me luck that I don't wipe out!

"Balancing, balancing, that's all I ever do" - song to "Promises, Promises" :) Good luck. I'd spend more time on the floor than on the ball.

Wishing you success on improving your posture. Have you seen the Subway commercial (my favorite) where people are eating fast food and causing their weight to increase instantaneously? There is a lady on a balancing ball falling off.

Good for you! I keep waiting for someone else in my office to be that person so I can just be the second person...good luck!

I've always wanted to try that, but I'm afraid the ball would melt because I sit so close to my space heater! Good luck staying on . . .

It takes guts to bring a big ball to the office---I am so impressed and jealous!

Oh...and good luck on the not falling off goal.

I have terrible posture and it would probably help me, but god forbid, I would probably wind up rolling off the back, with my legs up in the air, and my coffee spilled down the front of me.

Would be entertaining for others at least!

You have to have balls to replace your chairs with balls and you can see, sister, how this could easily be a chicken-egg thing that gets you mired in an infinite regression leading, thus, to no action (a la tfh). So congrats on your balls and your ball and it actually sounds like a pretty good way to force yourself to work on your core.

My wife (aka, Teh 'Bride) used to have one of those balls and for the life of me I have no idea what happened to it. The Boy may've managed to pop it somehow. I could sure use it now.

Good luck with your ball(s).

Huh, I never knew you could bring your own balls to work! Best of luck, don't dump coffee or nod off, you'll roll right over.

All I can think about is that episode of "The Office" when Dwight has a stability ball as his chair and Jim stabs in with a pair of scissors. Cracks me up to think of!

I'd love to use one at my computer desk, but my kids think they belong to them. I sat on one for both of my labors and they are the awesomest things ever.

I've given serious thought to doing this.. I want to know how it goes for you! That's awesome

I would love to replace my chair at work with a ball. But, then I would have to get one for all my students because they would want to sit on one. I wonder if I can fill out an acquisition form for about a half dozen.... hmm...

My husband has a ball at work that he uses instead of a chair.

Get used to comments like "I see you're on the ball again" - seems people never tire of those.

ohh i need to do this! my posture sucks although i work on it randomly when i remind myself to sit/stand straight. i just like to prop my feet up too much and tilt back in my chair. i wonder if i could master that on the ball...

Hehe good luck with that!! I don't know how well that'd work for me because knowing me, I'd fall off of it! I work in a call center....

Seriously, how can you find pants that can fit your ball?!?

Have fun, and at least you won't fall far. :-)

You are a brave woman.

With me it wouldn't be a matter of 'if' I would fall, more like 'how often' or 'if I will hurt myself' when I fall.

Good luck.

I have a big pair of balls, but I have never whipped em out at the office. Good for you, homegirl!!

I've been going to do that like 45 times and I never do. I may have to try it now. :D

I did the same thing, but my ball is aqua. It's actually a hand me down from my mom who needed the 55cm. Everyone kept asking, "What are you going to do with that?" Lol!

Hey, I think I saw something about that school on TV the other day. I know they said it was in Minnesota, but for the life of me I can't remember what I was watching. I'm surprised it doesn't make the kids more hyperactive. I remember the boys in elementary school always trying to lean back on their chairs, and eventually crashing and burning.

Good luck with strengthening your core. And don't get too wild with the tricks. Way to be brave!
