You Have a Baby........

In a bar????

Yes, that is a child playing bar slots. Her younger sister was also present but she was playing pool. While we were visiting granny this weekend we did what ever good Northerner does on frigid day, we stopped off to have a mid-afternoon "bump" at one of the local watering holes. We bellied up to the bar and these kids were running around when we got there and were still there when we left. Their mother was there playing the slots and would throw money at them from time to time to keep them quiet. It was really sad, but then I did remember we were in Wisconsin (ha!). I had to go home and let my kids out of the closet and give them a hug.

Today, the wagon has pulled up to my house and I am back on it. I have determined that staying completely on plan whilst visiting granny is impossible. She always has the best treats. Saturday night we had the most amazing homemade spaghetti and as you can see from the photos, my kids loved it! I almost feel like I need another detox because of all the goodies.

I did however pack a "go" bag on Friday night when we left town. I packed carrots, hummus, and pretzels and it was the perfect road snack. Normally we would just hit the Golden Arches drive thru and chow our dinner in the car. This time we had a snack and then we got to granny's house we had a sensible dinner. We are coming up on one month of no fast food. I have to say, I don't miss it.

This week I am reintroducing myself to Jillian Michaels. I had to take a little break because my knees were taking a beating, but I am going to try it again. Chubby hubby has done it pretty much every day and has now moved to level #2. That. Looks. Brutal. I will be happy to stay with level 1 for as long as it takes.

My son does not have kindergarten today but my other son has preschool. Grrrrrr. That means I still have to still bundle up the brood and do my mom taxi duties. I still might make it a lazy sweats day even though I do have to go out at least twice.

I know what you mean about traveling and food. I usually take everything I need and just remind the family just how picky I am, and vegetarian on top of it...

After reading you post's on Jillians shred. I decided that I had to have it myself. It is one heck of a workout, I did level two yesterday for the first time! Holy Crap! I didn't think I could take such a beating in such a short time. No wonder the contestants are losing huge each week, I can't imagine 5 plus hours a day of that... Oh how strong and fit I would be though!

What was funny, was that when we went back to the bar that night, the mother, and grand parents were stil sitting at the video slots... ummm wait who had the kids??? either that or they were drugged and shoved under a bed...

I'm totally LOL at this because we have a ton of pictures of me in a bar as a child. And guess where we were - Wisconsin. But, that's where all the "grandpas" hung out on Sunday afternoons, so that was how we could hang with my grandfather.

Good job staying somewhat on the wagon and jumping back on now.

k, you and fitncrafty both scared me outta level 2, was thinking about trying it this week, but i'll stay on level 1 just a little longer. LOL So sad for those kids in the bar... :(

Cute photos (I mean of your kids-- the little girl in the bar is a little sad). Great job on the month without fast food.

Being from Wisconsin myself, I used to go w/my parents to bars and do occasionally take the kids...IF the bar has awesome food. (One place close to our home has amazing wings & appetizers). The we play pool with the boys, and they love their big mugs of root beer.

That being said, I agree, there are crappy parents who sit in bars all day & make their kids entertain themselves while the adult gets intoxicated. Not good!

My knees have been bugging me too since Jillian. It's been taking a bit of a toll on my running, so I'm going back to level 1 and seeing if that helps.

The important thing is jumping right back on the wagon. Glad you enjoyed the weekend. And kudos for your continuing no-fast-food streak!

Ahhh, kids in a bar. It drives me crazy when I see it. Reminds me of one of my ex-boyfriends and his poor daughter.

Great job getting back on the wagon! You show Jillian who's boss!

sounds like something we definitely have down here in the south... though i've never personally witnessed it. i sure wouldn't doubt it though!

sometimes you need to indulge every now and then to 'jolt' the metabolism. that's my excuse anyway :) the good thing about running/being active is that it's usually easy to go out for a run or get a workout in after eating a few too many goodies.

The weekends traveling seem to be the hardest for me too! My mom always has so many goodies, and once I have one, it's like a very slippery slope!

Can I say I just LOVE that bib?

Jillian rocks but my daughter thinks she is too 'tame' in the DVD lol. And, instead of joining in with me, my daughter sits there and harps at me that 'Jillian would SO kill you if she saw you doing those lame jumping jacks.'.

What? It's unacceptable to bring your kids in the bar? I do that every Saturday night. My kids are a hit with the college kids :P I'm KIDDING!!

Sure, a five year old in the bar is okay, but try sitting in there if you're 20. I guarantee they'd boot you out.

Sweet home Alabama is such a great flick.

Eating good while out of town and visting the Grandma's is hard for everyone. GOod job on packing the good snacks. I would have stopped at Sonic.

Doood. Great pics.

But my spaghetti is the best. Which means your kids had the SECOND best spaghetti in the world. Be sure to correct the record, thank you.

Staying on track at my Granny's is impossible so I feel your pain. I think I may have to get some Jillian Michaels, everyone seems to love it!

The little ones in the bar is just wrong... your comment about your kiddos in the closest funny, however. LOL.

Baby eating spaghetti pix are the BEST!

I need to get back to the Shred too...my week off isn't helping me much w/the weight thing.

The spaghetti looks SO good!! How do you resist? Omg, may the force be with you!

I totally remember when I was a kid growing up in beer capital of the world-Milwaukee, we spend many days and nights in the bar! I should be a professional pool by now or at least suffering from lung cancer from all the smoke. That was normal back in the early 70's......at least for wisconsin!

I love Baby Diva's bib, LOL!

I kind of grew up in a bar since my dad owned a restaurant/lounge in the city. Well, we were not there all the time but I do have some formative memories of learning how to do the Bus Stop with Big John (a regular customer) in front of my dad's jukebox when I was seven or so!

I'll be there with you with Jillian... but tomorrow because I am sick today. Good luck!

I'm sick today, but plan on trying Level 2

Oh I hate to see that. At least it doesn't look like it was nighttime out

awesome job on the 1 month with no fast food. I think I have had McDonalds breakfast 2 times in a year. That's all the fast food I've had. I just don't like it (except for it's magical cure of a hangover!)

hahaha, you have a baby in a bar?!!? I guess it doesn't just happen in Sweet Home Alabama! LMAO

Thanks for the picture... I love proof!

ROFL so dang hard at you letting your kids out of the closet to hug them. Oh my gosh! I'm dying. Gotta love the Carly Comedy.

By the way, I don't understand how kids can even get into a bar. Around here, you're hard-pressed to get in even if you have a valid I.D. (the weird liquor laws here in Utah make me glad I'm not a drinker).

And that spaghetti looks tasty. Good for you for packing a go-bag. And one month of no fast food- that's great!! Oh, and I was trying to figure out what the bib said, too, and I think I figured it out "My mom is hotter than your mom". Ha ha, love it!
