$279.65

If tobacco companies can be sued for causing cancer, can
I sue the Girl Scouts for making me fat? I had no problems looking those sweet cookie pushing girls in the in the eye and saying "bitch, get otta
my face!". Then Chubby Hubby decided that it was a grand idea to buy
some cookies from the girl across the street. Lets just say that my
measly C25K workout is no match for a sleeve of Thin Mints (I was good
and didn't eat the wholefreakin' box this time....I had help).

The cookies were the icing on the cake. I have been a bottomless pit. I
really don't have an excuse for my constant hunger. Stress? Anxiety?
Boredom? Climate Change? Who knows. I do know that I have to unstrap
the feed bag.

Now I will get to the $279.65.... This is the amount of money that I have spent on the Weight Watcher program since September. I have been doing this program for roughly 6 month. I use
the term "doing" loosely as I have been pretty half-assed about it.Granted I am going in the right direction, but after 6 months I should be a lot further along than I am right now. Seeing the amount of money that I have spent and seeing the number on the scale tells me I had better get to work.

It is funny that money is the motivating factor for me right now. Before it would have been the scale. Like everyone else we are feeling the pinch of the slow economy. If I keep up at this pace, I may as well flush the money down the toilet. At my center they have a cross-stitch plaque (yes, someone actually made this for WW) that says "It Takes as Long as it Takes". Translation: We will rake in the dough while you drag your ass making a lifestyle change. I don't want to look back 6 months from now and be in the same situation with even more money invested. I want to be at or damn near goal.

I STILL haven't heard anything about the half marathon lottery. I have become a bit OCD checking my email (the website says we will find out by March 5th). I want to know NOW! I am sure checking my email every 5 minutes is going to make the results come in faster. I have issues.

Oh....and my Garmin 50 (piece of shit) is back to the tricks of not uploading. I give up. Really I don't use Garmin Connect anyway, it just bugs me that the device is not working like it should.

OMG Somoas are my downfall but I THANK GOD we don't have any GS's around here. I'd have to run for 15 hrs a day with the rate I eat those suckers.

Wow. This whole girl scout cookie thing is wreaking havoc in blogland!!

I'm so glad we don't have any in our neighborhood!! (Although they would be the Canadian version of course, they're called Girl Guides fyi :)

A damn sleeve of Thin Mints goes down like nobody's business. Damn it all those freakin do-gooders.

I said "no" to many sets of girl scouts but I really really want a cookie right now!

Good luck with WW and that garmin!

I'm right with ya on the GS Cookies. I'm happy to say my family tore through 3 boxes like nobody's business...before I could 'decide' to have one thin mint, they were gone. Thank God!

I hate my Garmin 50 too. By the way, it (the food pod)is NOT water proof and ir does NOT tolerate runs in cold weather. The foot pod will stop working. Supposedly it's good to 14 degrees but that is baloney because one little snowflake on a 25 degree day kills it.

Oh and I also have to reset the watch before every use now. Battery is already dying and it's supposed to last 9 months. Sure.

Do you do WW online or do you go to meetings?

Seriously I think they should be liable for the weight we gain..stupid cute little girls in pig tails.

anyhow good luck with WW.. I was always more successful just changing 1 thing every couple weeks but I know a lot who love WW

Having spent money on it was the only thing that used to get me to yoga class...hey, whatever incentive works!

I think WW is a great learning tool for people and it helps hold them accountable, but at this point you know how to track your points, there are free diet logs online and you have everyone one reading your blog to help keep you motivated and hold you accountable.

My two cents...I think you can do it without spending them money.

I once heard that Freud charged his patients for sessions whether they came or not. Not because he was a d*ck (he may've been) or greedy (who knows?) but because money would motivate them to get there. Freud insisted that what the patient would learn about herself in psychotherapy was so disturbing that the unconscious mind would find ways - "accidents" that would pretty plausibly look like accidents - to keep the patient from getting there. Rather than try to figure out which excuses were good ones, Freud said, "You scheduled ... you pay.'

And the money motivation worked!

What the Hell was my point again?

O, yeah!

Mmmmm ... thin mints ....

thankfully i don't get sucked into buying those cookies as much without working in the office... but yes, they should be banned.

Funny I should read this right as I'm destroying some Do-si-dos. I tell ya what, those Girl Scouts make cookies like nobody's business.

Thin Mints = Crack... Just say no.

Thin Mints + Anxiety + cutie little girl guides = less than practical use of your WW $. :) However, I am not a good judge because i LOVE those little thin mints.... If you don't feel committed to the WW program then you could probably take what you know and do it yourself do you think? I have debated trying them a few times but I always get stopped by the $$ and my poor level of commitment to counting points. :)

I wish I could leave some words of advice, but I love those little suckers!

OMG I love me some thin mints... yum-o

I may as well just stick the thin mints right on my a$$. I can eat an entire box in one sitting, sigh.

I wish I could find something to motivate me to eat with something approaching control.

Our Girl Scout cookies will be delivered next week and it's going to be a feeding frenzy. I should do some advance calorie burn in anticpation . . .

I've been checking my e-mail for the lottery results every 5 minutes too! Then I check the website just in case there's something on there. Not so much a productive day at work! :)

lol this post! i looove gs cookies but i can't eat them anymore 'cause of my food allergies. i love your comment about weight watches/money. i know there are some worthwhile programs that help you lose weight/get healthy but i have a hard time buying into them, seem so expensive. i know it's a lifetime change/commitment but still, does it have to require a 2nd mortgage? my sister has been doing ww for probably 6 months now and she has been good at keeping herself on track. her pre-diabetic symptoms helped motivate her a lot, but hey whatever it takes. i hope you are able to get down with what works best for you!

Yeah.. I am avoiding those cookie boxes like the plague! Stay strong.

I have been a bottomless pit lately too. I think our move to HI has made me feel like I am on a constant vacation..Let me know how you finally "unstrap the feedbag" maybe it will work for me too.

My fav are the "thanks a lot"! I left a box in my locker at work...it lasted all of one shift! Damn those GS's! March is no better than February!

RunningNan said...

HMMM... Maybe we should come up with something that we can get paid for!

I remember when the girl scout cookies were 2 dollars a box. I was troop 426~

Hi Carly! I've been a bad blogging buddy lately. Sorry I haven't seen you in ages.

I finally caved & bought some GS cookies Tuesday night from the girls sitting in the cold wind outside Walmart. Damn I love those thin mints.

I know *exactly* how you feel about spending $ and that being a motivating factor. I spent a butt load on LA Weight Loss. And it made a difference, I swear it did.

I'm in a funk, too. I hate Jan & Feb & wish them away every year. Bring on the spring. (except, could I please lose 15 pounds before it's shorts & sleeveless weather?)

And your fiber one bar post is exactly what happened to me. I hate those b*stard bars. They are pure evil.

Keep up the runnin'!

The kids in my family are all too old now, and our kids (and friends kids) are too young - no cookie salespeople around. This is both a blessing and a curse. I have this problem with ordering 5-10 boxes and then sitting down and eating a whole box at a time. Sure, thats not good for me. But it sure is fun :(

SuperDave said...

I can't believe that you bought the bestest cookies in the world. What were you thinking girl? I would inhale them in 2 seconds.
Thin mints fresh from thecold fridge -yum!

Girl Scouts, aka, little devils in uniform.

I'm lucky, living by myself I can avoid bringing them in my house. Although I had a bit of an altercation with some cookies at my parents one day last week....belch...
