Seriously???

Today as I was on my way to work, I heard a clip on the radio from the news last night about Popeye's Chicken and how our local franchise would not honor a national price promotion. This restaurant is privately owned and operated and chose not to participate in this deal. This story made me giggle all the way into work. Peeps freaked out! Seriously.....people almost had a riot over fast food???!!! The cops had to come. Definitely a WTF moment! One guy said he took a cab all the way from Burnsville to get this special price.....Ummmm Burnsville to Minneapolis is at least a $60 cab ride round trip. He did that to save $5 on his order of fried chicken. I have never had Popeyes (that chicken allergy thing has something to do with it), is it really that good????? Riot-gear good?

Anyway....
Another crazy week is coming to a close. Thank GOD! I have been functioning in survival mode for the last few weeks. Thankfully I think the stress has come to a head and things should start calming down here. Saturday is going to be a major regrouping day to catch up on everything and get planning for this marathon I signed up for.

I don't have any plans to run today even though I really should.

Man... it'd be nice if people could get that worked up about other issues, you know, like the environment... the war... Darfur...

Gag, I hate fried chicken. People can be ridiculous...

Anyway, glad to hear things will be settling down for you soon!

No, Popeyes isn't that good, although it is the only fast food resto I've been to where the homeless come to your car window begging you to order them something.

Enjoy your regrouping...

Hey! My first job in High School was at Popeyes. Haven't eaten the crap since.

Thanks for the story. It left me in stitches!! LOL

I think I tried Popeye's once, years ago. I'm not a big fan of fried chicken. Even as a kid, I peeled the skin off.

OMG...that's insane! Never had, never had the desire....

With all of the problems in the world today, it is so absurb people would get worked up about not saving $5 on fried chicken...completely WTF!

Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Oh my gosh. I love me some Popeye's chicken. Mostly just for the biscuits though. I can't believe y'all only have one in the entire state of Minnesota. And that people knew they didn't honor the national ad last month but still came back again. That's just hilarious. I love the seriousness that the news guy gives this story.

I also didn't know that there was a person in the world who didn't love fried chicken. It's delicious.

Oh, yeah.

Popeyes is totally worth that!

This story reminds of the girl who called 911 when she heard McDonald's was out of Chicken Nuggets-true story, just can't remember where it happened!

I love the $60 cab ride to save $5. So intelligent! I have never even heard of that place. Must be some good chiecken!

We don't have a Popeyes around here. If it's like KFC (which I don't mind, mind you), that's OK, but I'm not going to great lengths to get that deal.

That cab ride, though.. that's nuts!

Hopefully next week is better for you!

I've never had Popeyes. Looks too similar to KFC, and I won't go near that place with a ten foot pole.

I tried Poeyes once prior to being veg and it was VILE. Never, ever again. I wouldn't drive 2 minutes to save $50 at that place. The story made me laugh though.. ;)

I'm glad that you let me know because I was contemplating a cab ride from Chicago to save that $5.00.

LOL.

That is just crazy. I mean, it is not like they ran out of Cinna-melts at McDonalds. Now THERE is something to riot about. ;o)

I hope your schedule gets better soon. I am looking forward to mine mellowing out as well.

O, man!

People have probably rioted over less important things than cheap fried chicken, though, to be honest, I'm hard-pressed to think of an instance.

O, wait - that time a mob waiting outside - what was it? A Mall-Wart?- on Black Friday trampled someone to death when they were finally let in.

But that went from stupid to tragic pretty quickly.
