Weekend...Errrr Week Wrap Up

Remember these?

Yeah....they pretty much SUCK! They are a good office shoe, and yes they are still better than 6" stilletos, however, they did not pass wedding photography test. I ran around in these suckers for almost 8 hours on Saturday and my feet were THROBBING at the end of the day!! Now I am stuck with ugly uncomfortable shoes. I can't take them back because I bought them from TJ Maxx and I no longer have the receipt.  Maybe I just need to break them in.

This past week I got caught up on my trashy television.  I came down with some sort of a bug earlier in the week and by Thursday, I could not get out of bed.  I called in sick and did not move for the entire day.  I was able to figure out the television without the help of my seven year old and got hooked on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.  It is one of those shows you ask yourself....Why is this TV?  I got sucked in and could not get enough.

Last Wednesday I started my pilates class.  I felt like crap so I just did enough to get through the hour.  I would have skipped it, but it was the first class. I think I am really going to like it, especially when I am not coughing like I have TB.  It is Monday and I am still sore from last week.  Ha!  I was once again reminded how I have absolutely no core strength.  I cannot lift my legs off of the floor to save my life.  The instructor promises it will get better with time.  I hope so!

I got a few workout in during the week.  I am completely obsessed with the Expresso bike at the gym.  It makes a 20 minute workout fly because it is like playing a video game.  Sarge and I hoped on bikes next to each other and chose the same player was on her screen and hers was on mine!  We were able to race each other.  It is not often that I say the gym is fun, but this is fun and brings out some fierce friendy competition.

Damn You Oreos!

You preyed on me when I was down. You knew I wasn't feeling well yet you called out to me. You told me that the boys NEED you for their lunches and you said you would leave me alone. You convinced me that I needed to put you in my cart. There you sat staring at me, screaming just take one. So I did...and I took another, and then another. Eight of you little bastards made it down the hopper. Now I am brushing off the crumbs and thinking you were so not worth it!

Before my little Oreo binge-a-thon last night I had quite an interesting day yesterday that sent my sensible food plan right into the toilet. I brought my lunch to work today. I broke it up into mini meals, at 11AM I had a sandwich and at 1PM I was supposed to have vegetable soup. I went to make the soup and noticed that when a can of soups says "vegetable" it doesn't always mean it is always vegetable broth they make it with. This can of soup was made with chicken broth. That is on the do not eat list for me because of my allergies and I had to dump the entire can of soup since I had already opened it. I guess I need to read more carefully next time.

Then I thought microwave popcorn would be the next best sensible choice. I threw it in the microwave to pop. I pulled out the bag and this orange liquid sprayed all over me and there was not any popcorn popped in the bag. At this point I am irritated, covered in orange liquid, stink like butter, and I am still hungry. That is when I said screw it and hit the golden arches. Another thing that was not worth it.

Today is back to the gym at lunch. I am not feeling the greatest. I have a Fall cold and I am feeling a bit run down. I know I can manage at least a little walk on the treadmill for 25 minutes.

Fugly Shoes

Yesterday I bought those shoes. I know they are ugly because when I opened my bag to show Chubby Hubby he gasped in horror. His exact word he used was HIDEOUS. When he has an opinion you know they have to be bad. He even asked if I paid money for them.

Why did I buy them if they are not up to the fashion code? Comfort. I am knocking on wood, make that pounding on wood because my feet have been treating me so well lately. My plantar fasciitis is doing so well. Instead of cute fashionable fun heels, I am wearing ugly but very comfortable clogs all for the sake of keeping my dogs happy.

More Crackberry Posting

Lord help me, I am road tripping with the family and I am calling this trip "trapped in hell". Our normal two hour drive is now going on three and we still have a long way to go. Diva is not a good traveler...she screams. A lot. I am ignoring the shoe that just hit me in the back of my head. Someone has raging smelly gas and the music playing might send me over the edge. Chubby Hubby is torturing me by singing "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" I am the one "praying for the end of time". Mom, if you are reading this please start mixing the cocktails!

I can't believe it has been over a week since my last post. My middle son started preschool this week and juggling the new schedules is proving to be quite challenging. I hope we all get adjusted soon or it will be a very long year.

One of the downers to my new schedule is the very little time I have to workout. I am not using it as an excuse, it is a challenge that I need to work with. To make the best of it, I have been going to the gym over my lunch hour. I am able to get a solid 20-25 minutes. It is better than nothing. When I am there I have been pushing myself a little harder to get the most of it.
I have started my own version of the couch to 5k program (yes I am REALLY starting over). It is going really well. I also have a new devil machine available at our gym that has kicked my butt. It is the Expresso video bike. It is crazy fun, like Wii Fit only without the insults.

That is all for now. I must take over the DJ role now before I have to listen to the techno version of "Country Roads". In case you are curious, it really is as bad as it sounds.

No More Guac for Me

Avocados are now on my do not eat list. Shortly after lunch today, my mouth started itching and my throat felt tight. It was an all too familiar feeling and I knew right away that it was the guac I had with my chips. I knew God was going to get me in one way or another because I broke my vow of staying away from Chipotle. Thankfully I did not need to shoot myself with my Epi pen or visit the ER, a Benedryl took care of this reaction.

Here is my current list of foods that can kill me:

Do you notice anything about this list? Anything at all?? all healthy stuff. It is all the stuff that I should be eating. It is all the food that is referenced in every diet book in the world. Why can't I be allergic to chocolate, McDonalds, and beer? I don't mean that. My options are getting mighty limited when I take out the allergy list to and add it to the food that is not figure friendly. Pretty soon I will be limited to lettuce and water. At least then maybe I will be below my Weight Watchers starting weight.

I came across an article today as I was reading a bit about food allergies and this paragraph stuck out:

Since allergies to a single food are uncommon if you are allergic to avocado then the possibility of you developing a cross-reaction to other foods is increased. Because of the similarity between the allergens of latex and avocado if you are allergic to one then there is a good chance you may develop an allergy to the other. Other foods to be on the lookout for are banana, bay leaf, cantaloupe, chestnuts, cinnamon kiwi, and mango.

I found this very interesting since I am deathly allergic to bananas and that I was told that I would also be treated for a latex allergy when I was in the hospital. I did not realize that avocados were in the same type of category. For those of you that are fellow food allergy sufferers, cross reactions are definitely something to keep your eye on. It seems like as I get older my food allergies are getting worse and thing and I am becoming allergic to more things.

This latest discovery bums me out because I am a huge fan of guacamole. I guess that is one way to get me to stop eating chips.

Back to Reality

I am back in Minnesota from Sunny Florida. I was lucky enough to go on a mini vacation with no kids and no hubby. It was just what the doctor ordered. If I was any more relaxed I would have been in a coma. Sun, cold Coronas with lime, and vegging out by a pool; I cannot think of a better way to end the summer.

My blogging has been so sparse lately. Yes, I have been busy but I have been MIA because I have been in a bit of a funk. I was really getting sick of listening to myself bitch and I certainly did not want to piss and moan publicly. Dropping out of the marathon and adding those few extra pounds that put me over my starting Weight Watcher weight really put a damper on my mood. The good news is, my mojo is starting to resurface.

After eating my way through the Minnesota State Fair this past weekend (deep fried pickles and cheese curds **drool**), I decided that I needed to get myself back on the wagon and get to a meeting STAT. My normal day is Thursday, but truthfully I did not want to face my leader with another gain so I went tonight instead. I am really glad I did. I immediately meshed with the new leader and ended up talking with her for almost an hour after the meeting ended. I think I am going to attend her meeting for the next few weeks to shake things up a bit. I still love my original leader but I need some new ideas. I feel like I am cheating on her. Ha!

Today I also signed up for a 10 week pilates class. I met this woman who teaches a class through my son's school. She just launched her own Pilates studio. I thought I would give it a shot and hope to finally get some of my core strength back. My BFF is also going to be taking this class with me. If I am going to look like an ass, I am bringing in reinforcements.

Running? What is that? As I mentioned in a previous post, I am going to have to start from scratch. I am fine with that although if I am going to complete my one and only goal of becoming a runner this year I must get started soon. I guess it is back to the old C25K program. This time, there is a 5K fun run that I want to do. I want to be ready for both the Turkey Trot and the Reindeer Run this winter. That is a realistic goal that I can complete.
