Christmas was so great this year! We spent 5 days at my parents house. It was the most relaxing holiday I think I have ever had. I credit the relaxation to the craptastic weather we experienced. It snowed and rained almost the entire time we were there. I was bracing myself for the storm of the century, but really it was not worth the hype that the news made it out to be. I was hoping for record breaking snow drifts. That didn't happen, we got just enough to do a lot of shoveling (not me) and enough to make the driving bad.
Most of our days up at my parents' house involved sitting in stretchy pants on the couch. I did bring my running shoes but did not use them because the weather looked like the photo on the right all weekend. Some would say that I used the weather as an excuse...I say it was a divine intervention for me to remain lazy.
The poor dog looked like a snow puppy after only a few minutes outside to do her "thing". She doesn't look happy but it really amused us.
On a random side note....I must buy some winter boots. I think I am the only dumb native Minnesotan that does not own a real pair of boots. Snow clogs, yes. Boots, no. (how is that for an ADD moment?)
Santa was able to make it to my parents' house despite the bad weather. I was pretty excited to see the looks on my kiddos faces. Even my 7 year old had the look of shock when Jolly Old St. Nick came in.
Santa spoiled the kids rotten and he was really nice to me too. I got some new PJs, furry warm gloves, a new funky scarf, a Vikings Snuggie (I think I am the only one in world that was asking for a Snuggie), a can of 7 year old cappucino, xxxxxxxxxxl sexy PJs, and a Scooby Doo Chia Pet (the last 3 things were gag gifts).
When the weather finally cleared up enough, we decided to venture out of the house (I even put on pants with a real button....impressive with the insane amount of calories consumed). We went to Bentleyville which is staged at Bayfront Park in Duluth. It is a tour of lights and it was pretty darn cool if I do say so myself.
