Cheribund Review

The kind people at Cheribundi sent me a variety pack sample of their tart cherry juice to try.  The package contained:
  • 2 Tru Cherry-  The original....50 cherries per bottle
  • 1 Skinny Cherry- sweetened with Stevia for less calories
  • 1 Whey Cherry-  added whey protein....great for after working out.
I have been reading a lot about the benefits of tart cherries.  Besides being a good source of antioxidants,  it is linked to helping such conditions as:
  • Gout
  • Arthritis/Inflamation
  • Sleep
  • Great Antioxidant
Here is more about the Cheribundi juice (take directly from their website):

What's Inside

Fifty Cherries: Our Tru Cherry™ juice packs fifty cherries into a short 8oz bottle. (We know because we counted them.) From there we add just enough water and apple juice to make it palate-perfect. Of course, to create the benefits of Skinny Cherry™ we decrease the cherries slightly and sweeten with natural Stevia. To get the benefits of Whey Cherry™ into a bottle, we add whey protein.

Freshness: The word "concentrate" isn't in our vocabulary. Our juice is freshly made with America's Superfruit™ grown in Michigan and New York. Other juices are made from concentrate once a year and then stored before you even get to drink them. Not cheribundi™, though. That's why it tastes so darn fresh.

Phytonutrients: These are the building blocks in fruits and vegetables, so they're good for you. They help plants grow and regenerate cells properly and they just may help regulate physiological functions in human, too. Cherries have a powerful combination of these nutrients, which provides more benefits than any other fruit or other good-for-you foods like tea, wine and other juices. Whether you're looking for anthocyanins, melatonin, phenolic acids, flavanoids/flavonols/flavanols (however you say or spell them), science is starting to show that many of these phytonutrients may have special properties. Some may reduce oxidative stress and fight free radicals while others may act like anti-inflammatories and yet others may hold a promise for better heart health. Of course, all the claims in the world wouldn't be as convincing as if you tried our juice and experienced the benefits for yourself!

Vitamins and Minerals: Your mom was right, you need vitamins and minerals. But not because she said so. You need them because they are the foundation to a strong immune system and enhance metabolic processes. In cheribundi™ you'll find Vitamin A, Potassium, Iron, Calcium and, in Whey Cherry™, muscle-growing B-Vitamins!
High ORAC Rating: The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity rating for cheribundi™ is higher than other juices - that means our juice has a better ability to absorb and neutralize free radicals. Whether you're exercising or resting, cheribundi™ is working hard for you!

My Thoughts:
I have to be honest because I only tried one bottle.  I had an allergic reaction, I am adding cherries to my now long long list of things I cannot eat (or drink for that matter).  Of the one bottle I did try, the taste was great.  I LOVE tart and this really packed a punch. Chubby Hubby was the fill in taste tester and it was too tart for his palate.  Final verdict:  Great taste and nice benefits (if you are not allergic).

I must add that I am allergic to most of the stone family fruits and it is not Cheribundi's product that caused it.  This is one of those things that falls under the category of my own stupidity for not thinking before trying.
Disclaimer:  I was provided a sample pack of Cheribundi juice to try, however all opinions are my own.

I came across Cheribund when Teacherwoman reviewed it a few weeks ago. I picked up a 4 pack last Sunday and had them as my morning commute drink instead of my normal green tea. I thought they were ok. I take tart cherry extract for gout, so anyway I can get extra cherries is good. I think I'd be sick of them if i drank one a day though.

Hope the reaction wasn't too bad. At least you not allergic to ice cream or chocolate. Although I have to admit you are the first person I've even "met" who's allergic to cherries. Your mom probably ate too many when she was pregnant with you. :-)

Have a great weekend!

I'm going to try to find them. I bet they would also be good to cook with. I love cherry sauce on chicken. I basically love cherries.

Sorry about the reaction.
