As it stands, I am planning on doing the Novice Plan that was posted on the Grandma's Marathon website. I think I would tweak it a little bit to include weekly yoga and cross training. I have included a screen shot of what the plan looks like. I think it is doable.
Another option I have available to me is a class that is offered through the Minnesota Distance Running Association. The class is set up to meet a couple times a week to prepare for this marathon. I am toying with the idea of joining the group so I have a bigger support system and long run buddies. With the pros comes a few cons....I don't want to pay extra for running and I am not sure I could swing the schedule while juggling the kids activities in with marathon training. There is an informational meeting on Thursday and I am planning on going. It can't hurt to get more information, right?
Before I forget......Happy Valentine's Day! This

18 weeks seems so far away yet I know it is not. All the best with your training! Sorry about the barfing. Yuck.
I'm going to say: I'm SO FREAKING JEALOUS. I absolutely wanted to run Grandma's, but once I figured out the cost for air-fare I decided that the only way I could come was to sell one of my kids, and my H was all ~like~ "no"...
GRANDMA'S!!!! WAHOO!!!
I will be curious to see how you like that plan. I looked at it last year, but it is way a lot of running days per week for me.
After running with a group for a year, I will say that nothing beats a running club for long runs. I hope it works out for you...
Wow how exciting! Good luck with your training!
WOO HOO! You go lady! I had thought about the 1/2 marathon, but wonder if I am too late, or can be ready! So proud of you!
Sorry about the pink spew.. bleh.
Wow, that's a heck of a training plan! Good for you!
pink spew...yum!
It sounds doable (the marathon)!
Yoga and crosstraining are a good thing. The 18 weeks will go by quicker than you think! Enjoy it.
woohoo, the marathon sounds awesome. Never heard of it, but I'll have to check it out :) You can and WILL do it!!!
Eww. I am sorry you have a sick kid. Your plan looks...great for you! For me, well, I may have nightmares tonight. (Where are the cheeto's in that chart?)
Totally do-able! It will go by fast, and you'll be ready before you know it!
Good luck on your mary training. I am trying to pull one off on four runs a week...tues/thurs/sat/sun. There are so many plans out there that it's tough to know which route to take. Hope to read a great race report, though!
