LARA Bar Reviews and Giveaway #Runwithlara

The the nice people at LÄRABAR asked if I would be willing to try some samples of LÄRABAR. It took me all of two seconds for me to respond with a HECK YES!  My only prior experience with these bars were the the small samples that I got at race expos.  I was excited to see what other flavors they had to offer.  I was floored when this package came to my door.  I was not expecting the mother load of samples.

These bars were very appealing to me because they are all gluten free!  I also liked the fact that there was not a paragraph of ingredients that I could not pronounce.  Simple.  I dig that.  You can learn more about these HERE.

Since I can't eat off of these myself (Yes I could...who am I kidding?!?!), I employed a few of my real life running buddies to help me with this review.

KELLY-Recently completed her first 10K and has committed to running her first Marathon!
Personal Fav:
uber Cherry Cobbler
Her thoughts:
Very tasty and filling.  Perfect for a quick breakfast.

STACIA-Is not a fan of running but is now doing it regularly and is trying to get me to do the Polar Dash.
Her thoughts:
Favorite:  Apple Pie
Good but a bit too high in sugar and fat for her liking.

BFF-Runs for fun and may have been bullied into her first marathon by yours truly.
Favorite:  Blueberry Muffin-
Her thoughts:
LOVE LOVE LOVES them.  Has become her go to snack for the afternoon.

UNCLE LARRY-(Not my uncle and not a dude...long story) Just ran her first marathon and kicked ass at several other running events:
Favorite:  Peanut Butter Cookie
Her thoughts:
It was sweet, very 'moist' and surprisingly tasted similar to the flavor of a pb cookie, however, the texture, was that of pureed dates.

Chubby Hubby-He doesn't run but is one hell of a course supporter.
His thoughts:
Pumpkin Pie.   It is alright.  (Aka good.  His is a man of few words)

My Brother-He doesn't run and has a raging nut allergy. I thought it was funny to try to feed him a bar made out of nuts and he was not amused.  He is still miffed about the time I accidentally fed him a pistachio which resulted in a trip to the ER.....on Christmas.

Me-Yeah, I run but it has been awhile (Stay tuned for that post).
My Favorite is the Peanut Butter Cookie.
My Thoughts:
It truly was filling and had a good taste.  Unfortunately...I because of my food allergies and the itchy throat I got (probably from the nuts) I only tried two kinds.

Your turn!  I am giving away a variety of these bars.  Hit me up in the comments if you would to be entered to win.  You can find them on Facebook too!

Thank you LÄRABAR for providing me with the product to do this review!!

November Goals

Happy November!  How is it November already?  More importantly, how have I been blogging for 6 years???  Wow time flies when you flood the internet with boring details of your life!!

First things first I need to do a happy dance because I have an announcement.  For the first time EVER (okay perhaps a bit of an overstatement) I didn't gain 10lbs in October.  I stayed away from all Halloween candy. All of it.  Are you admiring my will power?

Well don't.

I cheated, kind of.  I had some sort of a stomach bug which left me with no appetite. None.  I must have been really sick to not touch one Reese's Peanut Butter Cup or Snickers.  Not one.  Usually I cannot stop once I start.

Or perhaps it was the sight of my children that made me sick:

Whatever works, right? I am chalking this up to a huge win and a great start to the Holidays!

The first of the month always renews my motivation.  Since I haven't done much since the marathon I am laying out my November goals:
  • A run a day.  I would like to round out November with running everyday...even if it is just a mile. I of course am using the word running loosely....jog, walk crawl will also count in my book.
  • Go to yoga 4 times.  This should be a doable goal but it is hard to find time in the schedule.  I miss it and my state of mind needs it.
  • No chips.  I seem to have developed an insane addition to these things and it is not helping the scale.  So I am vowing to be one month chip free.
  • End November lighter than I started.
Those are my few simple goals for the next 30 days.  What are yours?
